So they're from Mexico and I know that some people don't eat Mexican grown food, but I don't mind.   I especially appreciate that they are Fair Trade certified.   It's hard to believe that you can buy 3/4 lb for a dollar.

My own tomatoes are just finally starting to produce and I've tried a few cherry tomatoes and there's really nothing like home grown (I like acidic tomatoes), but these little romas are a great substitute.

I checked out http://divineflavor.com and it looks like Mexico is serious about food safety and producing high quality produce for the American market.

In 2000 due to outbreaks of Salmonella caused by Mexican melons entity Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has closed the doors of the U.S. market for Mexican melons. After several years and several discussions between governments of the United States and Mexico through its and entities FDA and SENASICA in 2002 they made an agreement by which the United States reopens the doors to Mexican melons from companies that meet adequate safety and health requirements. We are one of the 7 companies authorized by the Food and Drug Administration to export Cantaloupe Melons to the U.S.

I've read that many Mexican growers are switching to organics, way to go!

So from memory:

organic coffee beans about $8/lb
organic Madagascar red rice $2.30/lb

And they really do get more and more organic food.  I also like the black rice even though it's not organic, just something different.

While I would love to sell some of my produce in Kingman, I can't afford the 60 mile trip to Kingman and I definitely can't be there at 7:30 am (open at 8 am) as is the current plan.  When I had the farmstand in Meadview I was in my hoophouse picking and washing salad at 6 or 7 am and I only had to drive a few miles to get there by 9 am.  It was a struggle! 

In addition to the driving expense there's a $35 or $40 fee for the space and there's just no way that this would be profitable for me, don't have enough to sell, no way to keep salad cool and fresh, etc.

However, I'll definitely be SHOPPING there any time I'm in Kingman on Saturday and will try to plan my trips for Saturdays if possible.

I just read that they now support buying clubs with a minimum of 5 participants.   For now, we just add to our orders what our friends and neighbors need and everything is shipped to us.  With a buying club, members can place their orders online and its shipped to them directly.

We usually order when we run out of hibiscus tea.   In summer we go through a LOT of tea!   We add hibiscus and spearmint (sometimes peppermint) to our large ice tea container and let it sit outside for a day.  It's a major crisis when we run out.

WinCo has organic rice and rice pasta and is steadily adding more organic products, although often not well marked. Some items in bulk have a green "organic" sticker, but some don't.
