I'm attaching the class schedule and registration sheet, cost is $175.
The class is great for SERIOUS gardeners and a requirement to become a Master Gardener.
I'm no longer a Master Gardener because they REFUSE to move into the 21st century. Everything has to be discussed at the 2 hour monthly meetings -- obviously not nearly enough time, especially with half the people almost asleep and just wanting to go home.
I could not get the MGs to utilize the web to discuss and set up MG events in a private web forum (as just about all corporations do) and they claim that U of A forbids advertising of workshops and other events on the internet, i.e. the Kingman MGs are not allowed to have a blog to advertise their activities!
The extension has the website from HELL and if you actually find the page for the Kingman MGs, the events aren't usually listed there.
So, if you heard that I quit the MGs because of my 60 mile drive to Kingman, that's not true at all. I quit because the Kingman MGs are highly disorganized, have no respect for my time and most important, are really not at all interested in helping residents garden. Most Kingman MGs don't even have a garden, there is no test orchard, no demonstration garden -- NOTHING. Sadly, we have to drive to NEVADA to visit extension gardens and orchards.
Just a few months ago Kingman MG coordinator Ron Tanner was fired because he dared to discuss allowing residents to email questions to the extension. It didn't go over well.
And that's really too bad. I don't know WHY the extension people are determined to drive the most dedicated MGs out of the program, but I'm going to try to find out ...
